Questions about this pattern
Is this coaster pattern in UK or US crochet terms?
UK terms, with the US terms in brackets. The coasters use one stitch, double crochet, which is called single crochet in US patterns.
What size are the crochet coasters?
About 10–11 cm square each, in Aran-weight yarn with a 5 mm or 5.5 mm hook.
My coaster is too wide or too narrow. What should I change?
Wider than 11 cm? Your crochet is looser than average, so start the next one with ch 15 (14 dc). Narrower than 10 cm? Try ch 17 (16 dc).
Why is my coaster curving into a bowl?
Your foundation chain is tighter than your stitches, so the bottom edge pulls in. Start again and make the chain looser, or make just the chain with a hook one size bigger.
