Terms & refunds
1. Who we are
Loop & Purl is a trading name of , a company registered in England and Wales with company number . Our registered office is . VAT number: .
You can contact us at any time by email at our email address. We aim to reply within 1–2 hours. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Loop & Purl; “you” means the person buying from us.
2. About these terms
These terms apply when you buy anything from this website: the Cast On Together course, a digital pattern PDF, or a custom pattern written from your photos. Please read them before you buy. By completing a purchase you agree to them. Our privacy notice explains how we use your personal information.
Our products are for personal, non-commercial use by individuals. If you are buying as a business, please contact us first.
A contract between us is formed when we confirm your order by email or on the checkout confirmation page. If we can’t accept an order (for example, because of a pricing error), we’ll tell you and won’t charge you, or we’ll refund you in full.
3. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown on this website and confirmed at checkout before you pay. Any VAT or sales tax that applies to you is shown at checkout.
- Prices are charged in the currency shown at checkout. If your card is in a different currency, your bank may charge a conversion fee; that fee isn’t set by us.
- Payments are taken by our payment provider (). Your card details go straight to them and never reach us.
4. The course: Cast On Together
What you get
- Cast On Together is a six-month (24-week) knitting and crochet course with 48 classes. Each week comes as an illustrated PDF containing two classes, step drawings, links to demonstration videos, homework with answers, and troubleshooting notes.
- The course is available in English, Deutsch, Dansk, Español, Français, Nederlands, Norsk, Svenska and Italiano.
- Help is by email only. Send us your question (a photo of your work helps) and we aim to reply within 1–2 hours. We don’t offer phone or video support.
- The video links point to videos hosted by third parties such as YouTube. We check them, but we don’t control them; if one stops working, tell us and we’ll point you to an equivalent.
Billing
- The course is a monthly subscription of $49.99 per month for six months. Your first payment is taken when you enrol and the next five on the same date each following month. After the sixth payment, billing stops automatically, and your course page stays open for good with all 24 weeks.
- If a payment fails, we’ll let you know. New classes may pause until the payment goes through.
How access works
- The first week’s two classes are available as soon as you enrol. After that, two new classes unlock each week.
- You can revisit any class you have unlocked as often as you like, and download each weekly PDF to keep for your own use.
- You can’t skip ahead of the weekly schedule.
- Your classes are on your private course page (the link in your welcome email; no password needed). Please keep that link to yourself. You can switch the course language there at any time.
Cancelling
- You can cancel at any time by emailing us, or with the cancellation link in your payment emails where one is provided. No further payments are taken after you cancel.
- Classes keep unlocking until the end of the month you’ve already paid for. Every weekly PDF you’ve downloaded is yours to keep. If you cancel before the six months are complete, your course page closes at the end of your last paid month, so download the weeks you want before then.
- Want a break? Cancel, then rejoin when you’re ready — email us and we’ll help you continue from where you stopped.
14-day money-back guarantee
- If the course isn’t for you, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we’ll refund that payment in full and cancel your subscription. You don’t need to give a reason, and this applies even if you’ve already started the course.
- We refund to your original payment method within 14 days of your request.
- After the 14 days, payments already made are not refundable, except where the law gives you a right to a refund (for example, if the course is faulty or not as described — see section 10).
5. Digital pattern PDFs
- Our patterns are digital files (PDFs). After payment you can download your pattern straight away from the link on the confirmation page or in your confirmation email.
- Your right to cancel: by law you normally have 14 days to cancel a purchase made online. Because a pattern is digital content that we make available immediately, at checkout you ask us to make the download available straight away and you acknowledge that your right to cancel ends once the download starts. If you haven’t started the download, you can still cancel within 14 days of purchase for a full refund.
- Faulty or wrong file: if a file won’t open, is incomplete, isn’t the pattern you bought, or doesn’t match its description, tell us and we’ll send a working replacement. If we can’t fix the problem within a reasonable time, we’ll refund you.
- Pattern errors: we check our patterns carefully, but if you spot a mistake, tell us and we’ll send you a corrected version free of charge.
- Your finished item will depend on your yarn, tension and making, so it may not look exactly like our photos or drawings.
6. Custom patterns from your photos
How ordering works
- You upload photos and details of your item on our custom pattern page. Uploading is free. When you send the form, you confirm that you agree to these terms and that you have the right to share the photos (see below).
- Your pattern is drafted automatically from your photos and details by our pattern-writing system, which uses AI, and is checked automatically (for example, that the stitch counts add up).
- You then see a preview of the first page of your pattern on its own page (we email you the link), usually within a few minutes. You decide whether to buy it. Nothing is charged until you pay for the download.
- To stop misuse, we limit how many free previews can be requested per day (per person, per connection and in total), and we keep unbought previews for 7 days.
Buying and delivery
- If you choose to buy, you pay the price shown on the pattern page. The full PDF is then available to download straight away and we email it to you. You can download it again from your pattern page for 30 days.
- The pattern recreates the shape, stitch pattern and construction of your item as closely as the photos allow. Details that can’t be seen are worked out to give the same look, and your result will depend on your yarn and tension.
When we can’t write your pattern
- If the photos don’t show enough, your pattern page tells you so (and which photos would help) instead of guessing. Nothing is charged; you can upload clearer photos.
- We may decline a request, for example if it asks us to reproduce a named, copyrighted design, or if the item is outside what we can write. Nothing is charged.
Cancellations and refunds
- Because you see a preview before you pay, and the pattern is digital content made to your order, at checkout you ask us to make the download available straight away and you acknowledge that your 14-day right to cancel ends once it is available. So we can’t offer a refund for a change of mind after you’ve bought it. This does not affect your rights if something is wrong with it.
- If there’s an error in your pattern, tell us and we’ll correct it and send you an updated PDF free of charge. If we can’t put it right, we’ll give you a refund.
Your photos and other people’s designs
- You confirm that you took the photos yourself or have permission to share them with us, and that sending them to us doesn’t break anyone else’s rights. Please don’t send photos showing other people unless they agree.
- We use your photos only to write your pattern, as explained in our privacy notice.
- The copyright in an original knitting or crochet design remains with its designer. We write our own original instructions to recreate the look of an item; we do not copy commercial or published patterns.
- Your custom pattern is for your personal use, under the licence in section 8.
7. Your right to cancel, in summary
If you’re a consumer in the UK or the EU, the law usually gives you 14 days to change your mind about an online purchase. Here’s how that works for each product:
- The course: you can get a full refund of your first payment within 14 days of making it, even if you’ve started (see section 4).
- Pattern PDFs: you can cancel within 14 days until the download starts. Once it starts, the right to cancel ends, as you agree at checkout (see section 5).
- Custom patterns: you see a free preview first and pay only if you buy the download; once it’s available the right to cancel ends, as you agree at checkout, but errors are always corrected (see section 6).
To cancel or ask for a refund, email us with your order details. Refunds go back to your original payment method within 14 days.
8. Copyright and your licence
- All course materials, patterns, text, drawings and designs on this website belong to us or to the people who license them to us, and are protected by copyright.
- When you buy, we give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the materials for your own learning and making. You may print copies for your own use.
- You may not share, copy, resell, publish, upload or otherwise distribute our PDFs or course materials, in whole or in part, or share your course access with anyone else.
- You’re welcome to make items from our patterns for yourself and as gifts, and to sell a small number of items that you make by hand. Please don’t mass-produce them, and credit Loop & Purl as the pattern source where you can.
9. Acceptable use
Please don’t use our website, forms or email to send anything unlawful, harmful or offensive; to upload content you don’t have the right to share; to send viruses or malicious code; or to try to get around the course schedule or access materials you haven’t paid for. If someone breaks these terms or our licence, we may suspend or end their access, after telling them why where it’s reasonable to do so.
10. Our responsibility to you
- Your legal rights come first. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer. In the UK these include your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015: digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and services must be provided with reasonable care and skill. If you live in the EU or elsewhere, you also keep the consumer rights your local law gives you.
- If we don’t meet these terms, we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result of our failure. We’re not responsible for loss that wasn’t foreseeable.
- If faulty digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content, and this happened because we didn’t use reasonable care and skill, we’ll repair the damage or pay you fair compensation.
- We supply our products for personal use only, so we aren’t liable to you for any business losses, such as loss of profit or business opportunity.
- We don’t exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
- We’re not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control. If that happens, we’ll tell you as soon as we can and do what we can to limit the delay; if it goes on for a long time, you can cancel and get a refund for anything you’ve paid for but not received.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in what we offer. The terms that apply to a purchase are the ones shown on this page when you made it. If you’re subscribed to the course and we make a change that affects you, we’ll email you before it takes effect; if you don’t want to accept it, you can cancel before the change applies.
12. Law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
- If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you live in the EU or another country, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
- If you’re unhappy with anything, please email us first — we’ll do our best to put it right quickly.
13. Your account
- An account is free and optional; you can buy everything without one. If you create one, please give your real name and an email address you own, and confirm it with the link we send you. Purchases made with that address then appear in your library.
- Keep your login safe. Choose a password you don’t use anywhere else and don’t share it. You’re responsible for what happens through your account, so if you think someone else has used it, change your password, use “Log out everywhere” in your settings and tell us.
- Your account is for your personal use. Downloads in your library are covered by the same personal licence as any other purchase (see section 8); we limit how many PDFs can be downloaded per day to protect against misuse. Custom-pattern PDFs stay downloadable for 30 days after purchase, as described in section 6.
- Deleting your account: you can delete it at any time in your account settings. This doesn’t cancel a course subscription (cancel that as described in section 4) and doesn’t affect purchases already made: your course link and PDFs you’ve downloaded keep working. Our privacy notice explains what is deleted and what is kept.
- We may suspend or close an account that is used to break these terms (for example, to share paid downloads), and we’ll tell you why where we can. If we close an account for any other reason, we’ll give you notice and you keep access to what you bought.
